Representation of social class and hierarchy in Bangla address terms

Address terms are important language components that represent the existing norms and practices of behaviour, holding specific contextual meanings in society adding beyond linguistic codes. This paper explores connection Bangla address with various parameters like age, religious identity, power position, social relationship, ratio intimacy, geo-spatial cultural variation through a close analysis selected discourses. Based on these parameters, it is found speakers use wide range terms, which special feature this language, contrast to English or other languages. In Bangladeshi societies, kinship reflect relationships among addresser addressee, vary based paternal maternal sides, different contexts. By employing qualitative approach explore interaction process, sheds light culturally diverse context from sociolinguistic perspective.
